Antique Baluch 'tree of life' rug, by the Afshar of the Qainate Arab tribes known as 'The Arab Baluch'.

4th quarter 19th century.

A stunning rug with 'tree of life' in full blossom; surrounded by a field of animals including three people.

The field is woven in two colours of camel wool, the border is in a beautiful soft 'rose' madder.

The rug has very slight wear and almost full pile. There is one area of old repair in the top right hand corner (see image). There is some corrosion to the black.

The rug has not been washed and will really sparkle with a good clean.

A good rug for display as a wall hanging.

Size: 5ft 6in x 3ft 3in..
